Darwin Skills Development Scheme is a community based not for profit organisation that is the Sponsor for Project Employment (Darwin) and Project Employment East Arnhem (Nhulunbuy), the Indigenous Employment Program, and Emergency Relief Funds.Disability Employment Services (DES)Through Project Employment, DSDS delivers Disability Employment Services (DES) to people with disability living within the greater Darwin and Nhulunbuy regions. DES services are delivered via two programs designed to meet the specific needs of individual jobseekers:Disability Management Service (DMS) - Disability Management Service for job seekers with disability, injury or health condition who require the assistance of a disability employment service but are not expected to need long-term support in the workplace.Employment Support Services (ESS) - for job seekers with permanent disability and with an assessed need for more long-term, regular support in the workplace.Both DMS and ESS programs are funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).Remote ServicesThe DSDS Remote Services Team delivers the Indigenous Employment program (IEP) and is currently providing mentoring and training Indigenous Employment Consultants working with the Marthakal Employment Service on Elcho Island and Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation at Maningrida.Emergency Relief FundsThe Emergency Relief Funds (ERF) program, funded from Department of Families, Housing and Indigenous Affairs (FaHSCIA) provides emergency assistance on a case by case basis for people in crisis situations. Assistance available includes food vouchers, payment of electricity and telephone accounts, emergency short term accommodation and other assistance as requested by individuals.
