Chris’ family is affected by HD, and as an active member of the NSW Huntington’s Association he felt it was the least he could do to enable families to visit his property to enjoy the surrounds, ride a horse, and generally take their mind off the day-to-day of living with HD. With full support from the NSW Huntington’s Association, families will be provided a day visit as HWH Stables cannot accommodate, this said, staff will provide advice on local attractions and hotels and while at the property all meals and activities will be free to all members of the families that visit. When not hosting families HWH Stables will operate to sell Horse Riding Lessons and Trail Rides to assist with the finances required to ensure this initiative is sustainable. Holidays With Heart receives no government funding, supported only by ID Services Australia Pty Ltd, HWH Stables and its own fund raising efforts. With regard to the nature of the business involving horses, Chris has over 25 years experience owning and managing horses both privately and commercially. Chris relocated his growing family from the Kimberley of WA during 2012 where he was managing a 3.5 million acre cattle station (10,000 head of cattle and 60 horses) that also incorporated a world class tourism resort operation and Indigenous training facility (Home Valley Station – Out Stations: Karunjie Station and Durack River Station), which is owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation – an independent Commonwealth statutory body. Chris has also held positions as an instructor and tour guide with various horse riding establishments over the years including Moore Park Stables in Sydney and for a short time during 2012 he did some property maintenance and tour guide work for Clarry and Mary Quirk at Valery Trails, which is one the region’s most well known businesses. All staff at HWH Stables are highly capable and professional and are committed to succeed to ensure its guests receive total care within a friendly atmosphere.Riders who register to take part in a course at HWH Stables become part of a small group of participants as the capabilities of the business are comparatively small compared to larger riding schools, this ensures all participants receive an enormous amount of individual attention. The property also has an enormous 3 acre training paddock for open riding lessons, all areas are set high overlooking the beauty of the valley. The facilities also include several stables, day yards, wash bays, a round yard for lunging and loose schooling and a farriers workshop.
